Shanxi Library, founded in August 1909, is the earliest public library in western China and one of the earliest public libraries in China. The present building is located at the intersection of Chang 'an North Road and South Second Ring Road, and officially opened to the public on September 30th, 200 1, with a building area of 47,000 square meters, designed book collection capacity of 4 million volumes and 1, 657 reading seats.
Shanxi Library is rich in books, complete in categories, complete in important ancient books suitable for the economic, political, cultural and social construction of the whole province, and has strong supporting ability for the economic construction, scientific research and production and scientific decision-making of the whole province.
