On February 29th, 2009, the 16th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 11th People's Congress of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region deliberated and passed the Regulations on National Unity Education in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and designated May every year as Xinjiang National Unity Education Month.

The regulations stipulate that the administrative department of education should incorporate the content of national unity education into the educational plan and organize the compilation of national unity education textbooks suitable for universities, primary and secondary schools. At the same time, it is stipulated that the education and training of teachers in national unity should be strengthened, and teachers should play a leading, exemplary and exemplary role in the education of national unity in schools. Fully popularize the national common language, continue to do a good job in promoting the unified compilation of teaching materials by the state, and vigorously create a social environment in which the national common language is used.
