When did the nine-year compulsory education begin?
Nine-year compulsory education in People's Republic of China (PRC) (China) was implemented in 1986. The Compulsory Education Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) clearly stipulates this policy.

According to this law, all citizens of People's Republic of China (PRC) (China) are obliged to receive nine years of basic education, including six years of primary education and three years of junior high school education. This means that all children are obliged to attend primary school when they are 6 years old, and junior high school when they are 15 years old. This policy aims to ensure that all children can acquire basic cultural knowledge and skills and create conditions for their future development and employment.
