Contents of Hong Kong National Security Law
The National Security Law of the People's Republic of China (PRC) Special Administrative Region was enacted by the NPC Standing Committee in accordance with the Decision of the National People's Congress on Establishing and Perfecting the Legal System and Law Enforcement Mechanism for Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region adopted at the Third Session of the 13th National People's Congress. This law consists of 6 chapters and 66 articles, which is a comprehensive law integrating substantive law, procedural law and organizational law.

On June 30th, 2020, the 20th session of the 13th the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) held its second plenary session, third plenary session and closing session. The meeting voted to pass the Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) Special Administrative Region on Safeguarding National Security, and China and President Xi Jinping signed Presidential Decree No.49 to promulgate it.

This draft law is an important legislative project to implement the spirit and requirements of the Decision of the National People's Congress on Establishing and Improving the Legal System and Law Enforcement Mechanism for Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region adopted by the Third Session of the 13th National People's Congress. The person in charge of the Legal Affairs Committee explained the draft law to the meeting.
