Research paradigm of information science
The multidisciplinary characteristics of information science are determined by various research paradigms of information science. Theoretical research around information science can be summarized as the following research paradigms. Information education in the United States is developed on the basis of traditional library science education. It is characterized by the combination of library science education and information education, emphasizing the application of computer technology in library and information work. Mainly train the following four types of personnel: first, document workers engaged in library and information departments; Second, information engineering professionals who design, maintain and operate computer information systems; Third, managers of libraries and information systems networks; Fourth, information science theory experts and information teaching staff. The main institutions that train intelligence personnel are Case Western Preparatory University, University of Pittsburgh, University of Florida, Syracuse University and Georgia Institute of Technology. There is no unified teaching plan in each school, and the curriculum is relatively free.

The characteristics of information education in the Soviet Union are multi-level and multi-form. Train intelligence experts and professional intelligence personnel in institutions of higher learning, information workers' further education colleges and all-Soviet Institute of Science and Technology Information. Primary information education should be carried out among senior students in universities, middle schools and primary schools. The continuing education of on-the-job information personnel is carried out in Renmin University affiliated to the All-Soviet Institute of Science and Technology Information. 1977 With the development of computer technology, the Soviet Union has set up the specialty of information output and information processing automation and mechanization in kuibyshev, Sevastopol and other cities. 1980 also set up specialties such as management and organization of sci-tech information documents, editing of sci-tech information documents and publications.

Information education in Japan is also developed on the basis of library science education. In the late 1960s, most universities, colleges and graduate schools set up information majors. 1979, the world's first library and information university was established to train undergraduates, junior college students and master's and doctoral students. The teaching content of information science in Japan is divided into two categories: one is the type of library information science which combines information science with library science, and most of them are located in humanities and social sciences colleges; Second, the combination of information science and technical science is information engineering, which is mostly located in the science and technology department of the university. The information engineering education in Japan aims at cultivating information professionals in computer information processing, which embodies the characteristics of "information-computer-telecommunications".

China's information education began on 1958, and China Institute of Science and Technology Information founded the University of Science and Technology Information. 1959 was merged into China University of Science and Technology, and 1963 was closed. 1978, Wuhan university set up a science and technology information major. Since then, Jilin University of Technology (now Jilin University), Northwest Institute of Telecommunications Engineering, Nanjing University and other institutions have successively set up information engineering majors. By the end of 1988, 60 institutions of higher learning and secondary specialized schools had opened information or library and information science majors. At the same time, China Institute of Science and Technology Information, Wuhan University, Jilin University of Technology (now Jilin University), Peking University, China Academy of Sciences Literature and Information Center and other units began to train information graduate students. In information continuing education, correspondence universities, TV universities, advanced courses and short-term training courses are held. 1983 the state science and technology commission and Wuhan university jointly organized a training center for scientific and technological information personnel to train in-service cadres in rotation. 65438-0985 China Institute of Science and Technology Information, with the support of UNESCO and British Council, opened postgraduate courses in information, enrolled postgraduate students in information, and trained on-the-job business backbones. 65438-0990, set up doctoral programs in Peking University and Wuhan University. During the period of 1998, the catalogue of undergraduate majors was adjusted, and the major of information science was merged with five other related majors, and the major of information management and information system was newly established, which belongs to the first-class discipline of management science and engineering. In the master's and doctor's stages, the name of this major remains, and it belongs to the first-class discipline of library information and archives management. As of 20 13, there are 77 information science master degree programs and 9 independent doctoral programs in Chinese mainland. The development trend of information education is mainly manifested in the following two aspects: first, with the development of computer technology, most countries attach importance to the education of computer application in information and library work; Second, we should attach importance to training information users and improve social intelligence awareness to meet the needs of the future information society.
