1. Shanghai Pudong New Area Supplementary School is a special education school that provides nine-year compulsory education, rehabilitation training and primary vocational and technical training for children with intellectual disabilities. The school is divided into three campuses: Lujiazui, Shangnan and Zhonghua Junior High School. There are 92 faculty members and nearly 500 students with various mental retardation, aged from 8 to 18.
2. Shanghai Changning District Supplementary School was established in February 1979, which is the birthplace of Chinese mainland's mentally retarded education after the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC). At the beginning of the school, the school established the concept of taking the development of mentally retarded students as the foundation. Over the past 40 years, the school scale, teaching conditions, teaching staff and school philosophy have undergone earth-shaking changes. The school has developed from 4 teachers and 24 students at the beginning of its establishment to a teaching building with modern facilities. Founded in February 1979, it is the birthplace of education for the mentally handicapped in Chinese mainland after the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC). At the beginning of school, the school decided to develop students with mental retardation as the foundation.
