1933-1934 (19-20 years old) went to the art students' union to study design, and studied under the outstanding German designer george grosz. During this period, he learned more substantive design contents, contacted a large number of European design publications, and was ideologically designed by European functionalism.
From 65438 to 0937, 23-year-old Rand started his graphic design career, and soon became the artistic director of Esquire Coronet Advertising Company, doing cover design for famous fashion art magazines such as Esquire and Apparel Arts, and achieved success.
Since then, Rand has been the creative director of the famous William H. Weintraub Advertising Agency in new york, and has also been employed as an art consultant and design director by many famous companies such as IBM. 1954, Rand left the advertising company to be responsible for corporate image design, including ABC, IBM, Westinghouse, Next, UPS Express, etc. The corporate logos he designed for these companies and institutions have become well-known classics. Paul rand's life's creative scope is quite extensive, involving book binding design, advertising posters, illustrations, font design, corporate image design and other fields. Rand's unique understanding of design has won unanimous praise from the society. Many of his works have been collected by museums in Europe, America and Japan, and won many honors from new york Art Designers Association and Royal British Designers Association.
Compared with design creation, paul rand has strong feelings for design education. Since 1942 (28 years old), he has been a teacher of Cooper Union Association, since 1946 (32 years old), and since 1956 (42 years old), he has been a professor at the School of Art and Design of Yale University.
