Jiangnan University, located in Wuxi, is a university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). It was jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Jiangsu Province. The national "double-first-class" construction universities "21engineering" and "985 engineering advantage discipline innovation platform" are the key construction universities, and they are selected as the national "1 16544".

The National College Students' Innovation Experiment Plan, the National College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Plan, and the National New Engineering Research and Practice Project are members of the high-level industry-specific universities' high-quality resource sharing alliance, the "Belt and Road" university food education science and technology alliance, the China government's scholarship receiving institution for international students in China, the national college students' cultural quality education base, and the first batch of universities' scientific and technological achievements transformation and technology transfer bases.

Jiangnan University originated from Sanjiang Normal School founded by 1902, and experienced the development period of National Central University and Nanjing University. 1952 the food industry department of Nanjing institute of technology (now southeast university) was established by relevant departments of Nanjing university, Fudan university, Wuhan university, Zhejiang university and private Jiangnan university;

1958, the whole department moved eastward to Wuxi and established Wuxi Institute of Light Industry. 1962 Wuxi Textile Vocational and Technical College merged into Wuxi Institute of Light Industry; 1995 was renamed Wuxi University of Light Industry. 200 1 Wuxi University of Light Industry, Jiangnan College and Wuxi Institute of Education merged to form Jiangnan University; In 2003, Donghua University Wuxi Campus was merged into Jiangnan University.

As of June, 2022 10, the school covers an area of 3,786 mu, with a building area of1198,700 square meters; The library has 2.55 million books; There are 18 colleges (departments), and 54 undergraduate majors will be enrolled in 2022; There are 346 faculty members1person, including 2240 full-time teachers (including graduate tutors 1.409); There are 20852 undergraduates, 65438 doctoral students and 02093 international students.
