People's Republic of China (PRC) National Defense Law Article 1 This Law is formulated in accordance with the Constitution for the purpose of building and consolidating national defense, ensuring the smooth progress of reform, opening up and socialist modernization, and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Article 2 This Law is applicable to the military activities carried out by the state to guard against and resist aggression, stop armed subversion and division, and safeguard national sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, security and development interests, as well as military-related political, economic, diplomatic, scientific, technological and educational activities.

Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on National Defense Education Article 1 This Law is formulated in accordance with the National Defense Law and the Education Law in order to popularize and strengthen national defense education, carry forward the spirit of patriotism and promote the construction of national defense and socialist spiritual civilization.

Article 2 National defense education is the foundation of building and consolidating national defense and an important way to enhance national cohesion and improve the quality of the whole people.

Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on Reserve Officers Article 1 This Law is formulated in accordance with the Constitution and the Military Service Law in order to improve the system of reserve officers, the mobilization system of national armed forces and the construction of national defense reserve forces. Article 2 The term "reserve officers" as mentioned in this Law refers to reserve officers who have been designated as reserve officers at or above the platoon level or professional and technical posts at or above the junior level of the People's Liberation Army, who have been awarded the corresponding ranks of reserve officers and registered by the military service organs.
