Swedish physical education teacher W. Skastrom first proposed this teaching method, and his book "Physical Education Teaching Methods" was published in the United States in 19 14. At the beginning of the 20th century, with the introduction of western physical education, school physical education in China developed to some extent. Schools that train physical education teachers have set up compulsory courses in physical education teaching methods. Most of the content is American and British textbooks. Based on Dewey's pragmatic educational thought and Thorndike's educational psychology theory, this paper discusses the purpose, learning process and learning law of physical education teaching, the teaching arrangement order, and the characteristics and teaching methods of various physical education textbooks.
