The first degree is a full-time diploma issued by the Ministry of Education of China. In other words, you enter the university through the full-time college entrance examination, and the diploma you get when you graduate is the so-called "first degree".

The Ministry of Education has not given a clear definition of "first degree". However, in practical work, we usually regard the highest education obtained by a person through ordinary full-time higher education as our "first education".

Continuing education in the form of adult high school, higher education self-study exam and adult college entrance examination is awarded degrees by the second education bureaus of various provinces and cities, so it is called "second education".
