In the novel The Journey to the West, there are not only the upper bound immortals such as the Jade Emperor, the Grandfather, the Tathagata, the Maitreya Buddha and the barefoot immortal, but also the lower bound monsters scattered by the immortals, all of which are refined. In the 40th time of the novel, Tang Priest and others met Hong Haier when they passed the boundary of Huoyun Cave in Kusongjian. The book wrote: The disciples were in shock, only to see a red cloud in the valley, soaring into the sky and gathering a mass of anger. It can be seen that Hong Haier, as a representative of the fairy monster, is qualified to step on the cloud, but the color is relatively single, only red. In fact, looking at the whole journey to the west, we will find a regular phenomenon: those monsters who have the qualification of companion cloud are basically monochrome. For example, the clouds accompanying Huang Fengguai are yellow, the clouds accompanying Red Haier are red, and more monsters are black. Therefore, we can draw a conclusion that in the myth system constructed by Journey to the West, the number of cloud colors represents the identity and status of the owner, and the more cloud colors, the higher the identity and status of the owner.
