The gross enrollment rate of higher education is the most basic index to measure the development level of a country's higher education, and the gender equality index is an important index to measure the difference of opportunities for men and women to receive higher education.
UNESCO published a brief report on gender equality in education, introducing the new situation of girls' education. The report shows that in low-income countries, the enrollment rate of girls in primary and secondary education has almost doubled, and the gender gap in primary school enrollment has narrowed by half. But it also shows that the speed of change is not fast enough. If the current rate is maintained, all girls will not be able to attend primary school by 2050.
