From June 5, 2002 to 10, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Radio and TV University and Central Radio and TV University jointly established the Distance Open Education Center.
From June 5 to February 2002, the Ministry of Education approved the pilot project of public service system for distance education in CCTV. "Open Distance Education Center" was jointly founded by CCTV and RTVU Online Distance Education Technology Co., Ltd.
In April, 2005, the Ministry of Education issued the Notice on Building a Public Service System for Modern Distance Education in China Central Radio and TV University, approving the open distance education to build a public service system for modern distance education in China Central Radio and TV University. The Central Radio and TV University Center relies on the National Radio and TV University System.
The Distance and Open Education Center has been entrusted by more than 40 key universities and 400 well-known training institutions in China. Through the establishment of 1800 distance open education learning centers and 400 distance open education training centers throughout the country, it has provided 20 million students with academic education and vocational education support services for more than 400 majors in 9 categories, including junior high school, senior high school undergraduate, junior college undergraduate and second undergraduate.
