1956 In April, the Cultural and Educational Office of the Preparatory Committee of the Autonomous Region was established to manage the cultural and educational undertakings in the whole region. 1965 Xizang Autonomous Region was established, and the education administration system of the autonomous region, the prefecture (city) bureau of culture and education, and the county department of culture, education and health were basically established. After the "Cultural Revolution" began, educational administrative institutions at all levels in the whole region were paralyzed or abolished. 1978, the education administrative institutions in the whole region resumed. In the early 1980s, Tibet adjusted its education management system, and local (municipal) primary and secondary schools were directly managed by local and municipal cultural and educational bureaus. County primary and secondary schools are directly managed by the county cultural, educational and health departments. 1984, education bureaus were established in all parts (cities) of the region, and county education bureaus were established one after another in each county to determine the staffing. At this point, the whole region has established and improved the educational administrative institutions and management system, and defined the departmental functions.
