Tian Ping College of Suzhou University of Science and Technology is a full-time undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education, with a four-year academic system. It is located in the national high-tech industrial development zone in the west of Suzhou ancient city. The college was founded in 1999, and started enrolling students in September 2000. In 2005, it was changed into an independent college according to the spirit of Document No.8 [2003] of the Ministry of Education and Document No.40 [2005] of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education. It is one of the earliest independent colleges established in Jiangsu Province. The alma mater, Suzhou University of Science and Technology, was formed by the merger of Suzhou Institute of Urban Construction and Environmental Protection and Suzhou Railway Teachers College in September 20001year. It is an ordinary institution of higher learning jointly established by the central and local governments, mainly managed by Jiangsu Province, with the coordinated development of engineering, science, literature, management and art.
