The unnamed lake with outstanding scenery has become a symbol of the scenery of Peking University. The willows by the lake are graceful, with drooping branches, patting the water, and Boyata's reflection is looming in the water. Opposite the lake is a stone boat, and the islands in the lake are dotted with tower views. In the Qing Dynasty, the area around Weiming Lake used to be a book spring garden, and Qianlong gave it to his favorite and Chen. Hechen built a lot here, dug large and small lakes, and piled up the islands in the lakes with the excavated soil. He built 64 towers, 357 verandahs and pavilions, and thousands of rooms, which were extremely luxurious. In the tenth year of Xianfeng, the British and French allied forces burned the Yuanmingyuan, and the Shuchun Garden was not spared, leaving only the stone boat base and the "building facing the wind and waiting for the moon", which is the former site of today's "Linhuxuan" (which was the official residence of President Si Tuleideng for a long time). When yenching university celebrated 10 anniversary, many distinguished guests gathered here. At that time, Professor Xie Bingxin proposed to name the house Linhuxuan, which was immediately approved by everyone. Professor Qian Mu further suggested that the unnamed lake at the entrance should be called the unnamed lake. Since then, the name of the unnamed lake has spread like this.
