1986 in April 12, the fourth session of the Sixth National People's Congress passed the Compulsory Education Law of People's Republic of China (PRC), which stipulated that the country should implement a nine-year compulsory education system. This law came into effect on July 1 of the same year, marking the establishment of compulsory education system in China.

Compulsory education is an important measure for the state to protect citizens' right to education. Through the implementation of compulsory education, we will ensure that all school-age children and adolescents can receive basic education and promote educational equity.
