Listen to the story of Deng.
On the south bank of Minjiang Estuary, there is an ancient wharf. Time has diluted the noise here, leaving only a stone road full of stories, from the shore to the river. This is the ancient pier of Deng Wendao located in Shi Wen Village, Tantou Town.
"Dengwendao" Wharf was built in the 20th year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty (1592). It is paved with huge granite stones and has two parallel roads. Many Changle people of the older generation have heard the saying: "Plum blossoms make beautiful women, and aragonite is good." The "Daotou" here refers to the Dengwendao Wharf in Shi Wen Village.
Surrounded by the sea on three sides, Shi Wen Village is the only place where the Minjiang Estuary can climb Changle. Dengwendao Wharf is located at the seaside on the north side of Shi Wen Village. It is the gateway to the provincial capital in the lower reaches of Minjiang River, an important docking point for ships and a port for navigation to the outside world. At the same time, it was also the origin of Changle businessmen going abroad and the dock where imperial envoys went to Ryukyu Island. Historically, it was an important port for Sino-Ryukyu relations. When Zheng He went to the Western Ocean, he set up sacrifices here for many times and set sail for the sea.
The important geographical location contributed to the prosperity here. At that time, Shi Wen Village was a place where fishing and salt gathered and merchants traded. It's bustling, bustling and rich as an enemy. On weekdays, ships, fishermen and merchants from the Caspian Sea gather here, and officials, businessmen and scholars come in an endless stream. However, it is these students who have forged the deepest fate with it.
In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the transition fee was exempted after the rural examination. Students from Changle and Fuqing go to the province, take exams in Beijing, and get on a boat and cross the river from here. At that time, due to the strong wind and waves at the mouth of Minjiang River, ships could not dock along the river. Many students have to hire someone to carry them to the river and get on the boat, which is very inconvenient when they come back. Therefore, some students burn incense in the nearby Tian Fei Temple and make a wish: If they are high school students or officials, they will provide stone pavement.
Students who burn incense and make wishes, they keep their promises and donate stones. Later generations followed suit ... As more and more students became famous, the stone road became longer and longer and gradually extended to the middle of the river. This stone road has a shining name: "Dengwendao", which means the first way to climb the civil service, and also means to climb the civil service career. Since the person who donated paving stones is a high school or official who boarded the ship here, Dengwendao has gradually become a symbol of the starting point of success.
These stones paved on Wendeng Road have uniform specifications. Each stone is ten feet long, 1.8 feet wide and 1.2 feet thick, and weighs about two tons. At that time, it was expensive. People who have donated stones have a successful starting point, and their later events cannot be verified, but the stones they donated in those years, like a monument and a spiritual highland, have stood in the torrent of history for hundreds of years. Some of the handwriting on these stones can still be recognized, such as "Longmen Gaojiashe Road" and "LAM Raymond Zhu Jiang", which leave people with infinite reverie. ...
At first, Dengwen Road was about 200 meters long, but now it is only about 100 meters long. Due to tidal changes, this stone road is often not in the water, and it can only be revealed when the tide is low. At the same time, due to the constant erosion and corrosion of the river, its surface has become uneven, and some places have even been ruined, but even so, it is still precious, providing convenience for later people and becoming a real livelihood project. Although they are only stones, they play an important role here, which facilitates everyone's transportation. Behind each stone is a wish and a story.
When you finally see its true meaning at low tide, you can't help admiring it. Although its face is full of vicissitudes, its expression is so peaceful, and it does not take credit or brag. It just silently looks at the turbulent river and silently guards the world behind it, just like a kind old man guarding his children, which is touching.
A raging river, a pier,
An ancient road, a period of history ...
