Taoist Education in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period
There are two main schools of folk Taoism: one school is concentrated in Xia Ji, Qi State, which is called the Huanglao School under Xia Ji, represented by Song Shuo, Yin Wen, Jieyu and Yuan Huan. The other school is represented by Zhuangzi. They all inherited Laozi's thoughts. Some people think that Laozi (The Tao Te Ching) (see Su Zhe's A Note on the Tao Te Ching in Song Dynasty) may have been written by Yuan Huan when he was giving lectures under Xia Ji. After the transformation of Xun and Han Fei, the theory of Xia Ji's Huang Lao School developed in the direction of materialism, which produced positive significance. Taoist Zhuangzi, represented by Zhuangzi, said: "Those who want to keep the rope in order are those who cut its sex, and those who want to keep the rope glued and fixed are those who violate its morality" (Zhuangzi? Thumb), he thinks that education is a shackle of human nature and should be abolished. Zhuangzi had a far-reaching influence on education in Wei and Jin Dynasties (see Taoist educational thought).
