Educational equity is the extension and embodiment of social equity in the field of education. The fairness and justice to be realized in building a harmonious society must include educational fairness and justice. The fairness and justice of education is by no means a low-level educational average, nor a single chaotic state of eliminating differences, levels, diversity, characteristics and famous brands. The education fairness and justice needed to build a harmonious society should be better and higher-level education than now.

Harmonious education means fair education and balanced development education. The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China's Decision on Several Major Issues in Building a Harmonious Socialist Society specifically points out that "giving priority to the development of education and promoting educational equity" means building an education with fair and balanced development, so that all people can share high-quality educational resources and educational reform achievements.

First of all, educational equity is an important value orientation of a harmonious society. Practice shows that people's education level in modern society is directly proportional to their occupation, income and social status. Especially in the context of increasingly fierce employment competition, education has largely become a prerequisite for the development of social individuals. Only by insisting on educational fairness and giving every educated person equal educational opportunities can we stimulate and release the potential, enthusiasm and creativity of social members to the maximum extent.

Secondly, educational equity is an important support for building a harmonious society. A harmonious society is a society that respects all creative aspirations that are conducive to social progress, supports creative activities, exerts creative talents, and affirms creative achievements. This is a society in which all the vitality of labor, knowledge, technology, management and capital compete with each other, and all the sources of social wealth flow fully. People are the main body of society, and education is the basis of cultivating talents. It plays a leading role in building a harmonious society. It is the fundamental guarantee to build a harmonious socialist society to cultivate high-quality workers and professionals who can adapt to a harmonious society and give full play to China's huge advantages in human resources.

Third, educational equity is an important symbol of building a harmonious society. A harmonious society is a people-oriented society and a society that realizes the all-round and free development of people. Adhere to people-oriented, promote people's all-round and free development, objectively require education equity, so that every member of society can receive education equally. The highest state of modern education is "teaching without class", that is, breaking the boundaries of identity, status, nationality, gender, age and region. Giving every educated person equal opportunities and rights without any restrictions is not only the value concept embodied in the Constitution and laws, but also the basic guiding ideology of Socialism with Chinese characteristics's educational development.
