The college is organized and supervised by Xiantao Municipal People's Government, and the competent department of business is Hubei Provincial Department of Education. The college accepts the management and supervision of the organizer and the competent department.

Xiantao Vocational College is a full-time ordinary institution of higher learning approved by Hubei Provincial People's Government and filed by China Ministry of Education. It is the second batch of national modern apprenticeship pilot units.

Xiantao Vocational College, formerly known as Hubei No.1 Normal School, was established in 1939. In 1980s, it was renamed Xiantao Normal School. In 200 1 year, the Hubei provincial government approved the establishment of Xiantao Vocational College on the basis of Xiantao Normal School. In 2002, Xiantao Health School was integrated into Xiantao Vocational College.
