What is happy education?
Happy education was put forward by Spencer. Strictly speaking, he didn't put it forward, but we took it out of context. British philosopher, sociologist and educator Spencer was nominated for the Nobel Prize. He devoted his life to writing, and he actually put forward three ideas about education:

-Advocating scientific education and opposing classical education;

-advocate independent education and oppose indoctrination education;

-Advocating education of happiness and interest, and opposing educational methods that ignore the laws of students' physical and mental development.

In fact, from the above three points, we should be able to understand that many of us just grasp the last point of happiness education. It is also relatively simple to understand. As long as children laugh, a happy education is happy. In fact, this kind of education is not called happy education, but called chronic suicide. Therefore, if we really want to understand Spencer's happy education, we must understand it very comprehensively. Only in this way can we have a scientific way to educate ourselves happily. Before understanding, we should have a basic understanding of science education, classic education, independent education and indoctrination education.

First, what is science education?

Science education is a holistic education with all teenagers as the main body, school education as the main position, and natural science education as the main content, involving technology, history of science, philosophy of science, science culture, sociology of science and other disciplines. It aims to enable teenagers to master the basic knowledge and skills of natural science, learn scientific methods, experience scientific inquiry, understand the relationship between science and technology and society, grasp the essence of science, develop scientific spirit, and comprehensively cultivate and improve scientific literacy. By cultivating qualified citizens with scientific literacy, developing social productive forces and improving social and cultural level, scientific spirit and humanistic spirit can be integrated in modern civilization.

In fact, the main purpose of many technical terms is to say that people should develop in an all-round way and become people who are helpful to society.

Second, what is classical education?

Classical education emphasizes the study of classical language and literature, and pays attention to cultivating students' character and rational ability. From his point of view, classical education is also scientific. It successfully inherited the wisdom of its ancestors and cultivated its character and rational ability. It is irrational to oppose blindly, so we can be skeptical about Spencer's happy education from this concept. After all, judging from his life, he devoted himself to writing all his life and his participation in society was relatively low. In Chairman Mao's words: "No investigation, no right to speak." Without the test of practice, we can only say that Spencer's happy education method is a theory and cannot be promoted to truth.

There is no doubt that some of us have made him understand the truth over the years. Therefore, many people in society are skeptical about happy education.

Third, what is indoctrination education?

Instilling education is an educational method that instills ready-made knowledge conclusions into students, subjectively determines the teaching process, forces students to memorize, and ignores the objective laws and knowledge level of students' learning and understanding process.

From the description of the concept, indoctrination education is a bit inhuman. It's a bit like driving ducks to the shelves, which doesn't conform to the law of human development. Think of people as machines. This kind of education is obviously worth criticizing and banning.

With the above understanding, we can find that Spencer's happy education method was a criticism and suggestion for the current education situation in Britain at that time. Secondly, Spencer is just a bystander's advice on education. We can only refer to this kind of suggestion, but we can't implement it as truth. Thirdly, if we look up relevant information, we find that Spencer was born in the19th century, and his new ideas need time to be verified. As for education, China has actually studied it for thousands of years. Review the past and learn the new, step by step, respect teachers and value morality, set an example and other educational ideas have been circulated for thousands of years. There are many advanced ideas that have stood the test after time polishing. There is no need to move an immature educational concept to deny everything about us.
