Kunming School for the Blind and Deaf in Yunnan Province was established in 1922, which is the first special education school in Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. After several generations and ten years' efforts, the school has now developed into a comprehensive special education school integrating twelve-year compulsory education, vocational and technical education and special education teacher training for blind, deaf and disabled children.
The school covers an area of 18.23 mu, and the school building area is 12000 square meters. There are 88 faculty members, 54 retired faculty members and 433 students in 33 classes. It is the largest special education school for the blind and deaf in Yunnan Province.
