Northwest United University is today's Northwest University.

Northwest University was founded in 1902 Shaanxi University Hall and Shi Jing University Hall. 19 12 is called Northwest University. 1923 changed to National Northwest University. 1937, the National Peking University, Beiping Normal University, Beiyang Institute of Technology and Beiping Research Institute, which moved westward to Shaanxi, formed the National xi 'an Temporary University. 1938 was renamed as National Northwest United University, and 1939 was renamed as National Northwest University. After the founding of New China, it is a comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education. 1950 changed its name to Northwest University.

The school has more than 3 100 faculty members, including 4 academicians of China Academy of Sciences, 5 double-hired academicians (professors), 1 1 member of the International Institute of Science History, 1 1 member of the Academy of Sciences of developing countries, 1 12 winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and millions of national talents.
