Anhui University (ANDA) is located in Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province. The school is one of the national "2 1 1 Project" key construction universities, and has been selected into "Excellent Legal Talents Education and Training Plan", "National Chinese Education Base" and "China Government Scholarship Receiving Institution for Overseas Students in China", which is jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Anhui Provincial People's Government.

Some departments of the school can be traced back to the original Anhui University, which was founded in Anqing in April 1928, which was the beginning of modern higher education in Anhui Province. Anhui University was established on the basis of Hefei University and some departments of the former (national) Anhui University 1958. In September of the same year, President Mao Zedong personally wrote the name of the school, which is still in use today.
