He has unlimited scenery on the stage and is currently the most popular trainer in the three places. He is modest and kind under the stage, but he is a humorous and wise elder. He said that in his lifetime, he sincerely hopes to integrate all kinds of resources accumulated in his life with the platform of "Huiquan Consulting" built by himself, and the wisdom of the group team will provide a steady stream of wisdom for developing China enterprises. A few days ago, in the lecture hall of "Building a High Performance Team" in Changshu International Conference Center, I was lucky enough to walk into his lecture hall and listen to his story. ...
Hello, Mr. Yu! I heard you didn't do training at first. But now you have become a well-known enterprise consultant and the most popular trainer. What is the origin?
Yu Shiwei: My major is economics. I have studied in many internationally renowned universities and won some honors through my own efforts. I have worked in many well-known enterprises. Everywhere I go, I hope to learn something and look forward to higher development. These experiences have given me endless wealth and life experience, and I really want to share them with you. Maybe the path I have taken will bring guidance and help to others. I really suffered a lot of setbacks when I first entered the business, and I was constantly doubting and denying myself. Fortunately, however, I never gave up and studied hard. Gradually, I successfully passed the test of physical strength and language ability. After that, I actively exercise my interpersonal communication and expression skills, especially my personality, dare to speak, and become more confident, cheerful and energetic. This is an interest that I discovered by accident, and as a result, I have achieved what I am now through continuous accumulation.
How do you define yourself? What kind of life changes did you experience on the way?
Yu Shiwei: First of all, enrich my own conditions. Then when you grow up, you will realize your own advantages and analyze your own shortcomings. In the process of growing up, I will explore my own strengths and find my own life position. What should I do? If I want to be a boss, I will start my own business. If I want to be a general, I will learn how to lead troops to fight. I must practice rather than think. Motivation is not from my mouth. There are three opportunities in my life that I seized in time. First of all, after I finish college, I can receive the most advanced education in advanced countries such as Britain and America. Then I had the opportunity to work in a first-class enterprise, and finally I became the leader of the iron and steel group after I was 40 years old. All these opportunities have brought me rare wealth in my life. In fact, there are not many opportunities in a person's life, once every seven years on average, depending on whether you are ready when the opportunity comes, so as not to miss it.
You often instruct others how to run their careers and lives. How do you run your own business?
Yu Shiwei: So far, I actually look down on many things, because many of them have their own things. In fact, personality can't change their fate. People have no advantages or disadvantages, only characteristics or personality. Try to avoid your own bad aspects. In fact, in the final analysis, it is to foster strengths and avoid weaknesses. In fact, I am very strict with people, so I hope everything is perfect.
Your training course seems to be characterized by experiential learning rather than traditional teaching. What is the consideration?
Yu Shiwei: First of all, I am doing adult training. Trainees have rich theoretical knowledge and practical experience. In this case, communication, sharing, learning, discussion and experience are just more effective training methods. Inspire and discuss some problems together through many interactive games and discussions. I really like the process of sharing with students. I'm not here to tell them what you should do and what you must do. I am here to inspire you to think and reflect, to experience some problems encountered in your work, and to find effective solutions.
In my own training career, I really need customers to tell me his industry, management and problem-solving methods. Although these experiences are indirect, they are particularly valuable. So now if I receive feedback from former students that my previous training has been effectively verified and helped today, this is my value.
As a leader, how do you manage your team? What is the secret of smooth communication?
Yu Shiwei: Indeed, the accuracy and effectiveness of communication are often disturbed by the symmetry of their goals, positions, status, language, interests, personality, feelings, values and information. But communication skills can help you remove obstacles as much as possible. I think the basic principles of communication are initiative, respect for each other, full preparation, simplicity and openness. To ensure smooth communication, there are some tricks, such as explaining the background of the information, keeping the key points in the information consistent, using written and oral communication to strengthen the information, establishing feedback channels and opportunities, ensuring that the information is delivered to the main audience as soon as possible, and regularly monitoring the information delivery. But for enterprises, communication and efficiency are sometimes interfered by problems in the process, so the solution of effective communication between departments is also very important. My advice is: always think from the other side's standpoint; Develop mutual partnership as much as possible; Minimize the use of technical terms, even if you think he should know; Know how to use the power of respect, gratitude and praise.
These methods may not sound new, but only those who truly achieve and form such values and behaviors are truly effective. For the whole enterprise, only by establishing a positive and smooth communication culture, supported by corresponding processes and systems, can we maximize the cooperation between employees and departments, create value for the enterprise and provide services to customers.
Next, can you talk about the future development direction of training from the direction of your main training courses?
Yu Shiwei: I am mainly engaged in management training and customer training. Management training such as leadership, communication and negotiation training; Last year, I also participated in a series of training courses such as "stress management" and "effective communication", such as customer training in sales, service and key account management. In recent years, I have trained talents for famous enterprises such as Philips, Kodak, Lucent, Siemens, ABB, Suntory, Lianhua Supermarket, China Telecom and Motorola. Mainly to help enterprises build internal trainers. The basic qualities of trainers are professional knowledge and skills, training skills, professionalism and professional ethics. Middle and senior managers in enterprises must have professional knowledge and skills, but what they may lack is skills. By training them, enterprises can truly share knowledge and experience, thus effectively training their subordinates. I think it is an important, cheap and efficient way to train your own trainers as long as the top management of the enterprise attaches importance to and supports learning and sharing.
What is the new plan for the next step?
Yu Shiwei: I'm slowly leaving the army now. Although I have never thought about how long it will take, it is not the way to fight like this. Now we are training some successors. The year before last was the busiest, and it took at least five days a day. My family has a lot of opinions about me. My wife said that I thought I should retire to spend time with my family, but I didn't expect to be busier. Actually, I used to have a little quality of life. I like to have afternoon tea, collect cultural relics, drink coffee and listen to music and opera to adjust and enrich my life. Now, in addition to attending classes, you are sleeping, and you can't just rely on lectures. On the one hand, I strive to expand channels and spread them more widely through the Internet, CDs and books. Now Malaysia also intends to invite me to participate in the training. Considering that there are more than 8 million overseas Chinese who need education, it seems that it will take some time to put old bones together (laughs).
In the course of your training class, you often give examples to illustrate the little things in life. Is this your training feature?
Yu Shiwei: It is these little things in life that people often ignore, but they contain great wisdom. Generally speaking, many students don't have much education. They like to get something from listening. Many profound truths sound difficult to some people. I hope my course is multicultural and easy to understand. As a trainer, you should be knowledgeable and tolerant, so it is very necessary to learn various cultures, and it is best to meet the needs of both refined and popular tastes.
How did you train yourself to be a trainer after ten years on stage for one minute?
Yu Shiwei: Actually, it is data collection, case analysis and curriculum preparation. Many of them are usually accumulated, and I have also developed the habit of collecting them carefully. In fact, at the beginning, it was wrong for my assistant to convey the theme of this class to me, but I can still talk about "building a high-performance team" in this class, which shows that the usual accumulation and preparation are very important. At the same time, we should keep pace with the times, grasp the recent trends and trends, and understand the issues that people are most concerned about. As for growth, it is long and hard. There is a story that three masons are cutting big stones into bricks. Ask the first stonemason what he is doing, and he will wipe his sweat and squint, and answer with grievance: "Bricklaying!" " Asked the second stonemason, he said flatly, "Build a wall." Ask the third stonemason and he will tell you, "I'm building a new mansion!" The future will be located here, and the back of the mountain faces the sea. This beautiful scenery will be unobstructed in the big window of the living room ... "I can persist because I always regard it as a career and think it is a very meaningful thing in my life, so I will feel very satisfied and fruitful, and I am not afraid of hard work.
After so much suffering, how did you persist and firmly believe that you were on the right path?
Yu Shiwei: Indeed, I have suffered a lot. However, obstacles are often the cornerstone of success. Many times giving up is comforting yourself, deceiving yourself and shirking responsibility. My greatest feeling is that human potential is enormous. However, without motivation and self-motivation, we may find it difficult to exert our potential and achieve sustained growth and maturity by persistently studying and practicing after setting our goals and constantly breaking through our own constraints and inertia. But then again, I think persistence and self-motivation do not mean that one should blindly pursue recklessness. On the contrary, planning is very important. Make a career plan, draw a coordinate and find out your short-term, medium-term and long-term goals. Then do three things:
1. Self-analysis. What kind of person you are, what kind of personality you have, what advantages and disadvantages you have, if you can use scientific evaluation and measurement, it will naturally be better.
2. Determine your goals. These include short-term, such as what position you are in now, what job you hope you can do well, and what ability you can have. Medium-term goals, such as where do you want to be in 3-5 years and what do you want to do? Then there are long-term goals, such as whether you want to be a senior consultant or start your own business. The more detailed the list, the better.
3. After the goals are determined, you fill in the efforts and costs needed to achieve these goals. For example, if you want to be a manager, what knowledge, information, interpersonal relationship and experience do you need to accumulate? How long do you want to cut into new fields and at what level?
So how should we deal with all kinds of setbacks and failures in the process of achieving our goals?
Yu Shiwei: Always have hope for waiting for others. The first is the problem of mentality. As I said just now, human potential is infinite, but what we lack is the courage and perseverance to develop and exert potential. Don't give yourself an excuse to avoid setbacks, curl up in a hotbed without stress. At the same time, diligence is the magic weapon of our progress, and training is the shortcut to help us make progress.
As a trainer, your work will permeate all aspects. How do you balance life and work?
Yu Shiwei: I like to look for people with the qualities I lack as my employees, so as to achieve the maximum effect. This is a key issue. In fact, everyone has a personality, people are born different, and the blood type constellation is fixed. I am a type A person, and I am careful and rigorous, while my wife is a type B, and my employees should complement me. In fact, as long as I have a little leisure time, I am a person who pays great attention to the quality of life. Healthy body is a difficult problem for people of our age, and we should know how to keep healthy. Eat more beans, fish and so on. And don't drink sour wine. Only when you have a healthy body can you have plenty of passion. You see, I'm 60 years old now, but I may look 50 years old and my mentality is almost 40. Enjoy, know life, love life, love all beautiful things, and arrange my life to the fullest. This is my principle.
In fact, life is also a university. You have inspired many people. How do you manage your life?
Yu Shiwei: Actually, I just arrange my life according to my own management philosophy, work hard and enjoy my life. In fact, I envy your generation. Unlike us, they have all suffered a long time. What I remember most is graduation photo in primary school. I stood in the third row because the first row was wearing shoes and the last two rows were barefoot. But fortunately, these sufferings have given us a lot of wealth and a lot of resilience. Later, our class produced 17 doctors, many of whom were children from poor families. Now I'm nearly 60 years old, and I'm still full of energy in teaching all day, probably because of suffering.
After years of struggle, you have started your own business and made great achievements. What do you value most in this process?
Yu Shiwei: Actually, it is a question of values. I divide my life into three levels:
1 It is not the burden of others, parents when they were young, teachers when they were students, bosses when they were employees, or children when they were old. I have been independent since 18 years old, and my family has never used a dime since then.
No matter what contribution this society has made, there is always one for you, with your own hard work and blood and tears in it. My company has also trained many people in Chinese mainland and Taiwan Province Province. After I have been a teacher for decades, about 654.38+ten thousand people have received my education directly. As for how many people have been influenced by me in consulting and training courses, I don't know, but I can say that I have done it.
The highest state is that others don't have to bear what you bear. Only the inventor of insulin can do this. Great scientists probably have this ability, which has risen to a complete spiritual level. I will try my best to work in this direction. Ha ha.
Finally, how do you evaluate the self-worth of your current career?
Yu Shiwei: I think the most important thing for people is what you can do for the world. If it can bring some insights and gains to others, it is very gratifying, and it is best to help again. The higher the self-value orientation, the stronger the achievement motivation, and the easier it is to seize the opportunity of learning and progress to realize self-value. This is also the motivation for my career development. The most gratifying thing is to see their students improve their self-worth and gain growth. I hope that we can always train new people and see our students become talents, that is, our self-worth has been improved.
