How to get rid of poverty in high schools in China?
China's "Popularizing High School Education Plan (20 17-2020)" points out that the key points of tackling key problems are poor areas in the central and western regions, ethnic areas, remote areas, old revolutionary areas and other areas with weak educational foundation and low popularization, especially concentrated contiguous areas with special difficulties. By 2020, high school education will be popularized throughout the country, and the gross enrollment rate of all provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) will reach over 90%.

Director Lv Yugang of the Department of Basic Education of the Ministry of Education pointed out that this 90% is not the national average, and all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities should reach it without exception. To this end, the Ministry of Education signed a memorandum on tackling key problems with ten provinces with relatively low popularization level at the national conference on tackling key problems in senior high school education from 2065438 to April 2007. According to the data of the State Council Poverty Alleviation Office Information Center in 20 15, the average gross enrollment rate of high school education in 829 poverty-stricken counties in China was 74.37% (the national average was 87% in that year, and it reached 87.5% in 20 16), which was lower than the national average 12.63 percentage points. It can be seen that there are great shortcomings in the popularization of high schools in these areas, and there is still a long way to go.

Therefore, it is urgent to speed up the popularization and free pace of high school education in poverty-stricken areas and ethnic minority areas, especially in contiguous poverty-stricken areas. This plays a vital role in enhancing the ability of poor areas and poor people to get rid of poverty and become rich. Intellectual poverty alleviation is the only way to get rid of poverty once and for all. In this way, the report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward the idea of "combining tackling poverty with supporting the will and wisdom" and "focusing on tackling poverty-stricken areas to ensure that by 2020, the rural poor will be lifted out of poverty under the current standards in China, and all poverty-stricken counties will be stripped of their hats, so as to solve the overall regional poverty and truly get rid of poverty".
