First, choose places and schemes with low security risks to organize activities.
We are doing educational activities, not exploration activities, so we will choose activities with relatively low security risks, rather than organizing activities knowing that there are dangers here or this season. Our current winter and summer vacation activity bases, as well as the activity venues around Kunming, all belong to low or controllable security risks. In the future, if there are activities involving certain security risks, we will specify them in the publicity draft.
Second, safety analysis before departure is very important.
No place or activity is "absolutely safe", and there must be hidden dangers in outdoor activities. As an event planner, to make this clear, we need to carefully analyze where there are potential safety hazards, how to prevent accidents, and how to deal with them if things happen.
Every activity will have a safety analysis, which should be considered in the early stage of design and activity planning, and it is a key point when stepping on the spot, so we should look at it bit by bit. For example, in an activity, the original activity design was to find a stream, but near the stream, there was a small piece of chopped bamboo, and it was cut very sharply. I saw it on the spot. Analyze it. If children wrestle here, they may be stabbed by bamboo spikes. Safety is risky and there are no good preventive measures, so this part is cancelled. And what kind of route to take, there is a fork in the road, then the leader of this activity should write it down in advance, and the scene should stop at the fork in the road before the players can move on.
If there are some unavoidable and avoidable security risks, we should consider the coping mechanism. Such as traffic risks. From the point of view of prevention, it is necessary to understand the road conditions and vehicle conditions, choose vehicles and drivers with high safety, and emphasize safety matters with drivers and passengers. However, even if all these measures are taken, there is still the risk of traffic accidents. Our mechanism to deal with traffic accidents includes buying insurance, preparing first aid kit, knowing the local medical assistance and having emergency assistance.
A good pre-trip safety analysis requires the team leader to be familiar with the location and route, go to the site for reconnaissance, and have detailed prevention and response measures for all nodes with security risks.
Third, ensure a reasonable number of campers, team leaders and assistance.
Generally, the number of campers in activities organized by local organizations does not exceed 30. A large number of campers will reduce the experience, and more importantly, the security risks will increase. The security that could have been controlled may get out of control, and the risks that the venue does not have will pop up in the crowd.
No matter how many people there are in the team, if there is only one team leader, the team leader will be very easily tired during the activity and cannot observe the children's safety hazards or unsafe behaviors. Therefore, two team leaders in an activity are the most basic guarantee. For teams with about 10 people, two team leaders can take turns as security guards, and in outdoor activities with more than 15 people, at least one of the two team leaders should assist in security. If there are more than 20 people, there are generally 3 team leaders, 1-2 security assistants.
In addition, if there are other adults in the activity, we will ask adults to assist in safety management during the activity.
Fourth, first aid training and carrying a first aid kit with you.
Team leaders and assistants should receive first aid training and be able to provide first-hand assistance in case of accidents. In some unexpected situations, such as traumatic bleeding, first-hand assistance can reduce or reduce the severity of injuries. A small first aid kit is very important at a critical moment.
Careful children will generally find that our team leader always carries a small bag, that is, the first aid bag that the team leader carries with him, in addition to the camera and the material bag.
Fifth, keep good communication with children and parents.
In addition to objective risks, children's on-site behavior is the most critical factor in safety management. About a week before each summer camp, we will organize a pre-departure meeting. At the meeting, we will introduce the itinerary, main activities and preparations to children and parents. The most important thing is to explain the safety instructions to the campers and sign the safety responsibility book. On the safety responsibility book, we will list the safety matters that children need to abide by. Please read it carefully and sign it. The process of signing and abiding by the responsibility book is also the process of educating children about safety and responsibility. We will also ask parents to educate their children to comply with safety requirements.
Of course, meeting and signing may not guarantee children to observe safety, but it will enhance children's attention to safety. During the camp, we should strengthen communication with children, deal with unsafe behaviors in time, and ask parents to persuade children together when necessary.
For some behaviors that children may need special attention, such as emotional instability, irritability or sensitivity, we will ask parents to communicate with us and provide detailed information and countermeasures. And ask parents to follow the team as much as possible.
The most important thing to communicate with parents is to gain their trust and understanding.
Sixth, camp management should be watched and observed at any time.
In addition to the above measures, the most important thing is camp management. Many parents care, will children fight? Will there be unpleasant conflicts? In our past activities, children may have some small frictions after getting familiar with them, but there has not been a big conflict yet. Reasonable activity arrangement and appropriate team challenge will lead children's attention to cooperation, play and study. Going deep into nature also helps to create a peaceful team atmosphere.
At the same time, it is still necessary to observe children, find some bad emotions and situations in advance, and deal with them in time. Paying attention to the children themselves can also make them trust and respect the adults in the camp.
