While writing the preface of this Chinese translation, I noticed that the English version of this book will be released in North America on April 25th, 2006, and we will read its Chinese version one month later. Obviously, the time gap between the translation and the original publication has been greatly shortened. This feature accords with the three deep principles expounded by toffler in his new book-the time principle, the space principle and the knowledge principle of wealth production. I don't think toffler's systematic exposition of these basic principles has been completed. Therefore, I expect that he will continue to write.
Like toffler's previous three works, all of them have been translated into Chinese. This new book aims to discuss "wealth" in the knowledge society. As far as toffler is concerned, this problem can be traced back at least to 199 1, when he published The Transfer of Power. However, toffler's analysis of this "millennium change" can be further traced back to 1984. That year, he published The Third Wave, which aroused widespread reading interest in China.
