Master of Chinese International Education in Jinan University
In order to improve China's ability to promote Chinese internationally, speed up Chinese to the world, reform and improve the training system for teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and train professionals engaged in teaching Chinese as a second language/foreign language and spreading Chinese culture at home and abroad to adapt to the new situation of Chinese international promotion, it is decided to set up a master's degree in Chinese international education in China.

"Chinese international education" refers to Chinese teaching for overseas non-native speakers. The English name of the Master of Chinese International Education is "Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Language", abbreviated as MTCSOL.

The goal of the master's degree in Chinese international education is to cultivate advanced applied and compound professionals who are qualified for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.

The master of Chinese international education should have a solid knowledge of Chinese language and culture, proficient Chinese as a second language/foreign language teaching skills, high foreign language level and strong cross-cultural communication skills.

It is not easy to get the qualification of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.

Not only the level of knowledge, but also the comprehensive quality.

A few days ago, the "Volunteer Program for International Chinese Teachers in China" issued by Hanban was launched, which aroused widespread concern in society. In recent years, the qualification examination for teachers of Chinese as a foreign language, which can teach foreigners Chinese, has become more and more popular. In addition, with the emergence of "Chinese fever", the reference number of Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) is increasing day by day, which also drives the demand for Chinese tutor to increase greatly. It can be seen that both tutoring foreigners to learn Chinese at home and being a Chinese teacher overseas have become hot industries. So how to get the teacher qualification certificate as the "threshold" for entering the industry? What should this "foreign teacher" look like?

■ "Foreign teachers" internal and external heat forensics is a prerequisite.

With the continuous development of foreign exchange, being an overseas Chinese teacher abroad and helping foreigners learn Chinese at home have become a hot career. However, whether you go out to be a teacher or teach in China, you need to obtain the qualification certificate for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.

The reporter learned from Hanban that after the news of the launch of the "Volunteer Program for International Chinese Teachers in China" was released, there were an endless stream of people who called, emailed and personally went to the Hanban Teachers' Office for consultation and registration. According to the person in charge, at present, the recruitment news of foreign teachers published by Hanban will attract wide attention from all walks of life, but it needs to be emphasized that the selection of teachers who teach Chinese as a foreign language is relatively strict, and all foreign teachers need to obtain the qualification of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, which is a prerequisite. In China, counseling for foreigners to learn Chinese is also booming. According to the person in charge of a company engaged in training Chinese as a foreign language, the company has more than 40 teachers of Chinese as a foreign language, and more than 100 foreigners learn Chinese. There are more than a dozen such training companies in Beijing, which are basically "full load", so many companies are expanding their scale. However, for training companies, the choice of teachers is very narrow at present, because not many people can get the certificate of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and it is also difficult to get the certificate.

■ "Foreign teachers" are hard to come by.

In the interview, the reporter found that the Chinese as a Foreign Language Teacher Qualification Examination is regarded as a "threshold" because it is really difficult to cross this threshold. Judging from the examination situation in recent years, the passing rate is relatively low.

Professor Xie Xiaoqing, deputy director of beijing language and culture university Chinese Proficiency Test Center, said that the comprehensive knowledge level of foreign teachers has become an important factor that restricts many people from obtaining this qualification. In the past, exams focused on foreign languages and required high foreign language proficiency. However, in the actual teaching process, foreign students' questions often involve many knowledge fields, not just the language level. This requires foreign teachers to master a lot of knowledge in all aspects, and even to be a "saint" who can cope with students' various problems. Professor Song Shaozhou, former director of beijing language and culture university Chinese Proficiency Test Center, said that, first of all, teachers of Chinese as a foreign language should have Chinese professional knowledge and foreign language proficiency requirements. Generally speaking, Chinese undergraduate major is required, and foreign language should also reach band 6. This is just the basic condition. In fact, the biggest difference between TCFL teacher qualification exam and other exams is that this exam is not only a knowledge level exam, but also an experience exam, which requires candidates to have certain teaching experience, be able to find problems in the learning process, and provide effective help for students, especially foreign students. Therefore, many people who have a high level of Chinese and foreign languages and have no teaching experience are not suitable for teaching Chinese as a foreign language, so they are eliminated early in the selection process.

■ There are many part-time jobs and few full-time jobs in China, and management is the key.

There are more and more foreigners studying Chinese in China, and there is a growing demand for Chinese teachers. Most of the teachers in China who tutor these foreigners are part-time teachers, and most of them are full-time teachers in universities.

According to an insider, at present, Chinese teachers as a foreign language in China are mainly part-time. Because foreigners learn Chinese for uncertain time, most of them study in their spare time out of interest, so there is no fixed teaching time. In addition, their learning goals are not particularly rigid, so they are more casual and will not arrange long-term study. In this way, learning Chinese as a foreign language is carried out by arranging class hours. Teachers earn 30~50 yuan/hour, and one week's class is about 10 hour. Full-time teachers generally provide Chinese counseling for international students in the university's foreign exchange center or international student service center. However, because the qualifications of foreign teachers are not easy to obtain, the selection of materials in these training institutions is relatively narrow, and it is not easy to select excellent teachers. At the same time, some experts in the industry have put forward some suggestions on the supervision and management of the teaching quality of Chinese as a foreign language teachers in domestic training institutions. Because foreigners have no clear purpose in learning Chinese, they seldom study for exams, and most of them are based on interest, so it is difficult to supervise the teaching quality. It is easy to encourage training institutions to "fish in troubled waters" and "perfunctory" training. How to effectively manage these institutions is imminent.

■ Foreign countries: high requirements, few opportunities and strict selection.

Overseas teachers who teach abroad have attracted many people's attention, and many people even regard it as a "shortcut" to go abroad. However, it is still difficult to become an overseas teacher, because there are not only strict requirements for teachers, but also few opportunities.

The relevant person in charge of Hanban said that to be a Chinese teacher abroad, you must first receive training in teaching Chinese as a foreign language and obtain the qualification to teach Chinese as a foreign language. We also need "hard standards" in education, identity and language. In addition, you need to be able to endure hardships and be thrifty, be psychologically prepared for working and living in a strange environment of different cultures for a long time, have strong adaptability, and be able to adapt to the working and living environment of expatriates as soon as possible. At present, only those that meet the warehousing conditions are collected. If possible, they will be dispatched within two years, depending on the demand for teachers abroad. And the number of people sent is limited. For example, there is only one teacher in Cuba and only five in Mauritius. These places have to undergo strict screening, so it is not easy to be a Chinese teacher abroad. Please don't blindly and rashly choose to be a Chinese teacher overseas. (Editor: Wenshan)
