Brief introduction of minority education
China is a unified multi-ethnic country with 55 ethnic minorities. According to 1982 China census, there are 67.23 million ethnic minorities in China, accounting for only 6.7% of the national population, but the inhabited areas account for about 50-60% of the total area of the country. Before the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), due to various social and historical reasons, the social economy of minority areas generally lagged behind that of Han areas, and the development was very uneven. Some areas even retain some remnants of the primitive commune system. The education of ethnic minorities is very backward. In addition to Korean, Mongolian, Uygur, Kazak, Zhuang, Tibetan and other ethnic minorities, some ethnic minorities are still in the original state of wood carving and knots. The vast majority of ethnic minorities are illiterate. China has always attached great importance to ethnic education. As early as War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's time, it established a college for nationalities in Yan 'an, a revolutionary base, and began to develop education for minority cadres. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), the education of ethnic minorities developed rapidly and became an important part of education in the People's Republic of China.
