At present, intergenerational education has the following characteristics:
(1) The ancestors generally had a low level of education, and most of them could not read or write, but only told stories.
(2) The concept of grandparents is relatively backward. In their view, they are responsible for children's food and clothing. As for learning, it is someone else's responsibility and can't participate in children's education.
(3) The ancestors have a weak awareness of lifelong learning, and the concept of lifelong learning is the basis of family education.
(4) intergenerational education lacks principles and norms. Many grandparents spoil their children too much and indulge some of their bad habits. Over time, their children also developed selfish habits. There is also a grandparents who do everything in their children's lives, which leads to their lack of self-care ability and has a negative impact on their independence.
The intergenerational education has become a negative factor in family education, and it is our urgent task to improve the quality of intergenerational education.
As educators, we should play a guiding role in intergenerational education, effectively organize and carry out intergenerational learning, and give full play to the respective advantages of grandparents and grandchildren. Grandparents are worthy of learning from their grandchildren in life skills, traditional culture, etiquette and humanistic quality, while their grandchildren just make up for their deficiencies in information concept, reading newspapers, healthy entertainment and expanding their lives, and can learn from each other.
Grandparents grew up in a very difficult environment, so they know that a happy life is hard to come by. In daily life, grandparents will subtly pass on the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation, such as diligence and thrift, respect for the elderly and love for the young, diligence and thrift, hard work and so on, and some can even form a family style and form a good family education environment for children's growth.
In addition, grandparents have practical experience in raising children and are very clear about the problems that are prone to occur at different ages. They care about their children as they grow up and eliminate possible problems before they have problems. Grandparents have accumulated rich experience and life insights in their perennial social practice, which are valuable assets that can promote children's social growth and effectively deal with children's education problems.
When conducting "intergenerational learning", we must respect the present situation of grandparents and grandchildren, set hierarchical goals and encourage grandparents and grandchildren to learn. "Learning from the next generation" needs to improve the mode of getting along and communicating between grandparents and grandchildren, mobilize families as much as possible, let grandparents tell their grandchildren old stories, impart life skills to their grandchildren, and play an old game that a child has never played, so that old stories and games can become new stories and games for their grandchildren with the development of the times.
