The school has six teaching departments: Comprehensive Foundation Department, Financial Management Department, International Education Department, Information Engineering Department, Mechanical Engineering Department and Electromechanical Engineering Department. The school offers 15 majors such as numerical control technology application, chemical engineering, clothing, marketing and business English, among which electromechanical technology application, computer application, accounting and electrical operation and control are provincial demonstration majors. Mechanical and electrical, accounting, automobile maintenance and other training bases 10, with a base area of 26,000 square meters and training equipment worth more than 58 million yuan, among which CNC is a national training base for talents in short supply and automobile maintenance is a provincial training base. At present, the school has about 6,000 students and more than 280 full-time teachers, including 65 backbone teachers at or above the municipal level and 85 "double-qualified" teachers.

The school adheres to the school-running philosophy of "cultivating practical technical talents and serving the economic construction of port cities". The skills competition won the provincial advanced school, and the number of undergraduate students who reached the line for the college entrance examination was the first in Suzhou for 9 consecutive years. The certificate-holding rate of student intermediate workers is 98.3%, and the employment rate of graduates is 98%.

The school has been commended by governments at all levels and relevant departments for many times, especially in September 2007, it was jointly commended by the Ministry of Personnel and the Ministry of Education as an advanced collective in the national education system. At present, the school is striving for a national high-level demonstration vocational school with the spirit of Zhangjiagang as the driving force.
