Application of CAD technology in the teaching of architectural engineering

CAD is a powerful drawing software, which is widely used in building engineering. Based on the importance of CAD technology to architectural engineering, this paper analyzes the application status of CAD technology in architectural engineering teaching, and discusses the strategies to strengthen the application of CAD technology in architectural engineering teaching, hoping to contribute to improving the teaching quality of architectural engineering CAD.

First, the importance of CAD technology to building engineering

In previous architectural design projects, designers often need to draw engineering drawings by hand with tools such as T-square, sketchpad and pencil, which usually takes a lot of energy and time. After the design is completed, it needs to be modified by hand, and the workload of designers is enormous. With the development of multimedia drawing technology, CAD technology, as a new engineering design technology, has changed the previous architectural drawing mode, and has been widely used in architectural engineering with its advantages of high quality and high drawing efficiency, and can effectively liberate the labor force of designers. At present, in order to better adapt to the development of the times and keep pace with the times, all major universities in China have set CAD technology courses as one of the important contents of architectural engineering teaching. How to effectively improve the teaching quality of CAD course has become an important topic in the current teaching of architectural engineering.

Second, the application status of CAD technology in architectural engineering teaching

Benefiting from the development of information technology, computer courses have gradually entered the teaching of architectural engineering. As an important part of computer course, CAD can not only draw construction drawings of buildings, roads and bridges, equipment, structures, electricity, etc., but also use CAD technology to modify and edit construction drawings. However, the modification and editing functions are based on the drawing function. Only by mastering how to draw engineering drawings with CAD can we use it to edit and modify drawings. At present, according to the market demand, most architectural schools in China have set up CAD related courses. Because CAD is a highly operational and applied course, at present, the CAD courses offered by most architectural schools in China often only insert two-dimensional computer drawing into architectural drawing courses, or offer computer drawing courses separately, and only a few schools adopt three-dimensional teaching. Although this method can make students learn the application form of CAD more intuitively, increase the transmission of information and enrich the whole teaching content. However, this method lacks the follow-up application of CAD, and can not penetrate CAD technology into the whole teaching system, which will undoubtedly reduce the effect of CAD teaching. In addition, the knowledge related to CAD in architectural engineering teaching is too theoretical, but it lacks practicality. Although the theoretical knowledge system, it is difficult for students to use it flexibly, which greatly reduces the effect of CAD teaching. Therefore, it is very necessary to strengthen the application of CAD technology in architectural engineering teaching.

Third, the strategy of strengthening the application of CAD technology in architectural engineering teaching

1. Strengthen practical teaching

In the teaching of architectural engineering, CAD engineering drawing is a practical course. Strengthening practical teaching can not only strengthen students' understanding and application of relevant theoretical knowledge, but also improve students' spatial thinking ability, drawing reading ability and drawing ability, and also improve students' teamwork ability, practical ability and design innovation ability, which is of great benefit to the improvement of students' engineering quality. First of all, while retaining manual sketching, we should appropriately increase field visits and computer drawing. Hand-drawn sketch is a basic skill that students majoring in architectural engineering must master, which is irreplaceable by rulers and computer-aided drawing. Manual drawing can fully express the designer's design intention, facilitate discussion and communication, and is not limited by conditions, places and time. On-the-spot visit can make students fully understand advanced product design technology, broaden their knowledge horizons, and let students experience the position and role of the course in concrete practice. Secondly, on the basis of two-dimensional engineering drawings, three-dimensional sketch, parameterization and feature modeling are reasonably added, so that students can further contact and understand three-dimensional design, improve their understanding of assembly and parts concepts and improve their spatial thinking ability. Furthermore, it is necessary to change the previous teaching method of "separation of coaches" and complete the teaching of theoretical knowledge and computer practice in the computer room, so that students can operate in time after learning relevant theoretical knowledge and make CAD teaching more timely and targeted.

2. Create a CAD 3D design platform

At present, CAD technology has been widely recognized and applied in major construction engineering enterprises and has become an important tool for designing construction engineering products. In order to ensure the effectiveness of architectural engineering teaching, a three-dimensional CAD design platform can be established on the basis of two-dimensional computer-aided drawing course. Teachers can create three-dimensional digital models of objects through this platform, which makes the teaching process more intuitive, vivid and accurate and easier for students to understand and accept. For example, when learning the projection principle, the shape of three-dimensional can be dynamically transformed into two-dimensional graphics, so that students can intuitively understand the corresponding relationship between two-dimensional graphics and three-dimensional. In addition, for the contents that are difficult for students to understand and master, such as three-dimensional truncation and intersection, three-dimensional CAD can be used to create three-dimensional models, dynamically display the truncation lines or intersection lines between different positions and different F-shapes, and display their shapes in two-dimensional drawings. This can not only greatly improve students' interest in learning, but also make teaching knowledge more intuitive, thus greatly improving the teaching quality and efficiency of construction engineering.

3. Scientific integration of teaching content

According to the nature of architecture students' future work, we should focus on the projection principle of views and engineering drawing in teaching. When explaining the drawing principle, we should focus on the three views of simple architectural forms and their manifestations, not just points, lines, surfaces and bodies. In addition, when integrating computer CAD drawing teaching, we should fully explain the basic theory of drawing and explain the basic commands of CAD on this basis. If they have something in common, explanations can be made at the same time. In addition, multimedia is used to demonstrate related drawing commands, and students are allowed to practice on the computer in person, so that students can consolidate the drawing-related knowledge they have just learned and apply it to actual drawing to improve their drawing ability.

Fourth, summary.

To sum up, in view of the important role of CAD technology in architectural engineering specialty, the author first analyzes the importance of CAD technology in architectural engineering and its teaching application status, and then discusses the strategies to strengthen the application of CAD technology in architectural engineering teaching from three aspects: strengthening practical teaching, creating CAD three-dimensional design platform and scientifically integrating teaching content for teachers' reference.
