Marx and Engels believe that the people, as the basic component of the historical subject, are the main undertakers of social and historical development, and all social processes depend on the people's practice. The development level of the people themselves and the situation in which they play a role directly determine the outcome of the historical process. The practice of the masses is the basic way to understand the social and historical laws. Without people's practice, these objective laws cannot be realized. Historical activities are the activities of the masses, and with the deepening of historical activities, the ranks of the masses will also be expanded. In the long-term revolutionary practice, our party combined the basic viewpoint of historical materialism with the concrete reality of China's revolution and construction, and finally formed the mass line of "all for the masses, all relying on the masses, from the masses to the masses". A profound understanding and conscious implementation of this line will have an important and far-reaching impact on our grasping the correct direction and doing a good job in a down-to-earth manner.

The report of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that serving the people is the fundamental purpose of the Party, and people-oriented and governing for the people are the highest standards to test all the ruling activities of the Party. The interests of the people are the starting point and destination of all our party's undertakings. Every cadre in party member should always put the people's interests first, do everything for the masses, and truly make power work for the people, love the people, and benefit the people.

"Historical activities" are, in the final analysis, activities of the masses. Our goal is to benefit the people. Without people's practice, we can't achieve this goal. We can only mobilize and organize people to practice and guide them to realize their own interests through their own practice. In the new development period, our party is working with the people to carry out the great practice of building Socialism with Chinese characteristics, which needs the common participation and input of the broad masses of the people. Without people's support and creative activities, our cause can't be successful.

Comrade Mao Zedong once pointed out that in all the practical work of our Party, all correct leaders must come from the masses. That is to collect the opinions of the masses, turn them into centralized and systematic opinions through research, and then publicize and explain them among the masses, so as to make them persist, see them in action, and test whether these opinions are correct in mass action. China's 90-year historical experience tells us that the mass line is the lifeline of the Party. Only by adhering to this line and always keeping close contact with the people can we gain a firm foothold and win the cause continuously.
