The school started at the Red Mansion in Beijing Beach and moved to Xueyuan Road on 1954. The University of Political Science and Law is a key construction university of "21Project", "985 Innovation Platform of Engineering Superiority Discipline" and "201Plan", which has its own characteristics and advantages in the discipline of law.

University of Politics and Law

The national "double-first-class" universities are directly under the Ministry of Education and jointly established by the Ministry of Education and Beijing, and are committed to building world-class universities and first-class disciplines.

There are 18 143 students in the school, including 97 mainland undergraduates, 7,642 mainland postgraduates and 782 overseas students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. There are 1 194 teachers in teaching and research posts, including 752 teachers with senior titles, 277 doctoral supervisors and 694 master supervisors. 96.40% of the teachers have obtained doctoral and master degrees.

The school has law schools, civil and commercial economic law schools, international law schools, criminal justice schools, political and public administration schools, business schools, humanities schools, foreign languages schools, social schools, Guangming School of Journalism and Communication, China-Europe Law School, Master of Laws College, International Confucianism School, International Education College/Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Education Center.

There are 19 teaching units in continuing education college/network education college, science and technology teaching department/rule of law information management college, physical education teaching department and training college.
