What does juvenile class mean?
Special education model for precocious teenagers. Juvenile class is a special education model for precocious teenagers. The enrollment of juvenile classes in Chinese mainland began on 1978. At the suggestion of Chinese-American physicist Li Zhengdao, many colleges and universities in China once recruited young college students, but for various reasons, most colleges and universities stopped enrolling students. At present, only three universities in China, namely University of Science and Technology of China, Xi Jiaotong University and Southeast University, have juvenile classes. Among them, China University of Science and Technology and Xi Jiaotong University enroll 40 freshmen and 130 freshmen each year, respectively, and the enrollment of Southeast University depends on the specific results of candidates. The characteristics of precocious teenagers usually include high intelligence level, strong learning ability, strong curiosity and outstanding creativity. They may have extraordinary talents and skills in some fields, but they may also face some special problems and challenges, such as psychological maturity, social adaptability and self-management ability. The particularity of the juvenile class model is mainly reflected in the education of precocious teenagers, interdisciplinary comprehensive education and special management mode.
