The School of Foreign Languages of Nanjing Normal University now has two doctoral degree authorization points in English language and literature, foreign linguistics and applied linguistics, and seven master degree authorization points in foreign languages and literature. There are eight undergraduate professional languages in English, Russian, Japanese, French, Italian, Korean, German and Spanish, among which Russian, Japanese, Italian, Korean, French, German and Spanish are five-year programs. English language and literature has been a key construction subject in Jiangsu Province since 1994. In 2003, English undergraduate major was awarded as the construction point of brand specialty in Jiangsu Province. In 2005, it passed the evaluation of the provincial expert evaluation group and was well received. In May, 2005, it was officially named as Jiangsu Brand Major, and achieved excellent results in the first batch of English undergraduate teaching evaluation organized by the Ministry of Education. Russian major was awarded as a characteristic major of Nanjing Normal University in 2006. The college has 20 faculty members, including 20 professors, 42 associate professors and 40 doctors. The French Training Center in Nanjing, located in Nanjing Normal University, has frequent international exchanges for French majors. This major actively introduces teaching and scientific research talents and gradually realizes the rationalization of the teacher structure. In order to improve the teaching quality and popularity, this major also plans to hire several Chinese and foreign Korean experts to teach every year.

At present, our school has established friendly relations with seven Korean universities, including Korea and Central University. Hiring professors for teaching, scientific research and selecting foreign students is an important part. Most undergraduates majoring in Korean in 2003 in our school have gone to Korea University and other countries for further study, and more outstanding students will be sent to Korea to study in the future.
