The School of Foreign Languages of Nanjing Normal University now has two doctoral degree authorization points in English language and literature, foreign linguistics and applied linguistics, and seven master degree authorization points in foreign languages and literature. There are eight undergraduate professional languages in English, Russian, Japanese, French, Italian, Korean, German and Spanish, among which Russian, Japanese, Italian, Korean, French, German and Spanish are five-year programs. English language and literature has been a key construction subject in Jiangsu Province since 1994. In 2003, English undergraduate major was awarded as the construction point of brand specialty in Jiangsu Province. In 2005, it passed the evaluation of the provincial expert evaluation group and was well received. In May, 2005, it was officially named as Jiangsu Brand Major, and achieved excellent results in the first batch of English undergraduate teaching evaluation organized by the Ministry of Education.
