1 Yan Fu, a bourgeois enlightenment thinker, translator and educator in modern China, was one of the "advanced China people" who sought truth from western countries in modern China history. Famous translation works include Huxley's Evolution, Adam Smith's Original Wealth and Montesquieu's Yi Fa.
2. Hou, a modern chemist in China, was born in 1890, graduated from MIT on 19 16, and was the founder of "Hou Shi Soda Process". (Hua, Qian Xuesen and Qian Sanqiang are also modern categories, but many achievements were made after the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1949, so I won't mention them here. )
Hu Shi, a modern historian, philosopher and writer in China, was born in 189 1. He studied at Cornell University and Columbia University, and was one of the leaders of the modern new culture movement in China.
4. Xu Beihong, a master painter, was born in 1895. His masterpieces "Yu Gong Yi Tu Shan" and "Eight Horses" are regarded as the founders of modern fine arts in China.
