Deng Shichang didn't run out of ammunition, so why did it crash in Yoshino?
Modern China faced serious internal troubles and foreign invasion, including the corrupt rule of the Qing government and the aggression of imperialist countries, and the final result was that war became an inevitable disaster. The Qing government at that time had little ability to resist foreign enemies. The Westernization Movement, which began in the 1960s and 1970s, began to manufacture weapons on a large scale.

1888 The Beiyang Navy, founded by Li Hongzhang, Minister of Westernization School, is a modern naval fleet established by China, and the Qing government allocates funds to support army building every year.

Beiyang Navy has a naval officer named Deng Shichang. He led the army to fight a battle, and finally the whole army was wiped out, and he also died gloriously. What happened in this battle?

Deng Shichang, a navy general who studied hard and bravely joined the army.

Deng Shichang, 1849, a native of Panyu County, Guangdong Province. Deng Shichang is the only child in the family. His father is engaged in tea business and owns teahouses in many cities. Because my father worked hard for many years and tasted the darkness and pain of the world, he hoped that his children would be prosperous forever, so he named his son Deng Yongchang first.

Later, my father thought that personal prosperity should be based on national prosperity, so he renamed his son Deng Shichang. When Deng Shichang was a child, he got excellent grades, was gifted, and loved reading. Deng Shichang's father assessed the situation and thought that no matter what profession he was engaged in at that time, he had to learn a foreign language, so he took Deng Shichang to Shanghai to learn a foreign language with Europeans.

From 65438 to 0867, Shen Baozhen, an official of the Qing Dynasty, was appointed as the Minister of Shipping and founded a driving class. The school began to recruit students from Fujian and Guangdong. When Deng Shichang heard the news of enrollment, he immediately told his father to sign up for study. Father also agreed with Deng Shichang's choice, so Deng Shichang returned to Guangzhou to take the exam, and finally got into the driving major with excellent results.

Schools must first study theoretical knowledge for five years. Computing, astronomy, geography, English and mathematics are the most basic courses. Deng Shichang is highly valued by Shen Baozhen because of his excellent performance. 1873 Deng Shichang, who finished her classroom education, embarked on a long sea voyage with her classmates. They practiced along the routes of Xiamen, Hong Kong and Singapore for four months, took turns sailing, and finally graduated smoothly at 1875.

After several years of sailing, Deng Shichang has accumulated very rich driving experience and made many contributions. Especially in 188 1 year, Deng Shichang sailed back and forth from China to Britain with the "Yangwei" ship. This voyage is a valuable learning experience for him. Deng Shichang not only broadened his horizons, increased his own technology, but also changed his thinking and understanding.

1887, Deng Shichang led the fleet to Yingde again, which was the second time that Deng Shichang experienced such a long voyage. At this time, Deng Shichang has become a naval expert in everyone's eyes. No matter what kind of danger he experienced in every voyage, he stuck to his post and cared for the soldiers, becoming an excellent officer with excellent skills and taking care of his subordinates.

The Yellow Sea naval battle "Zhiyuan" ship was completely annihilated, and Deng Shichang died heroically.

The naval battle in the Yellow Sea was 1894- 1895 during the Sino-Japanese Sino-Japanese War of 1895. The main reason for the war is that Japan wants to gain the right to control the sea through naval warfare. Emperor Guangxu ordered the Beiyang Navy prefect Ding to go to the Yellow Sea to settle the dispute, so the main fleet of Beiyang Navy set out for the Yellow Sea with a total of 12 ships.

Deng Shichang was the commander of Zhiyuan Ship. The sinking of Zhiyuan Ship mainly occurred in the second stage of the Yellow Sea naval battle, that is, after1September 894 15 years 14 years, the commander-in-chief Ding was seriously injured and still commanded the operation regardless of his life.

Zhiyuan's soldiers are fighting for their lives. In the face of fierce enemy fire, Deng Shichang commanded Zhiyuan's soldiers to fight bravely and never flinched. But the war is so fierce that the number of shells will soon run out. At that time, Zhiyuan and Japanese Yoshino met at sea. Under the impact of the enemy's strong ships and guns, Deng Shichang ordered the ships to speed up and dashed at the Yoshino ship.

The Japanese army was frightened by the powerful Zhiyuan and began to focus on firing artillery shells at Zhiyuan. Unfortunately, the torpedo tube on the right side of Zhiyuan ship was hit by the Japanese army, causing a huge explosion. The ship began to tilt gradually and eventually sank completely. Except for seven people who were rescued, all officers and men on board died heroically.

After falling into the sea, Deng Shichang's entourage took lifebuoys to save him. He had a chance to be rescued, but Deng Shichang refused. He threw himself into the water on the grounds that he could not live alone. Deng Shichang's pet dog also fell into the sea with him and kept biting his arm to prevent him from sinking into the sea. But Deng Shichang is determined to live and die with the soldiers and sink into the sea with his dog. Deng Shichang was only 45 years old when he died for his country.

Experts have solved the mystery of why Zhiyuan ship hit Yoshino.

Why on earth did Deng Shichang rush to hit the enemy ship at that time? Moreover, at that time, the Zhiyuan ship, although there were not many shells left, did not reach a completely empty situation, and ammunition and food were not used up.

125 years later, people salvaged the sunken Zhiyuan from the sea and finally solved the mystery. The researchers found that a torpedo had been installed on the torpedo launcher of Zhiyuan, but the attack power and range of this torpedo were not very strong. Facing the fierce attack of the enemy, Deng Shichang decided to adopt angle attack tactics and torpedo attack. So Deng Shichang ordered to rush to Yoshino, and then attacked it with a torpedo when Yoshino approached. I didn't expect this method to succeed, but it ended in tragedy.

Although Zhiyuan can't attack Yoshino with torpedoes, Deng Shichang and the officers and men who died in the Yellow Sea naval battle are still national heroes, which is admirable.

The scale of the Yellow Sea naval battle is very large. The war lasted five hours. Although China suffered great losses and sacrificed many people, the losses caused by the war to the Japanese army were also very serious. After all, there is still a big gap between the two sides in weapons and equipment. China's soldiers persisted for five hours under the condition of disparity in strength, beating the Japanese army black and blue, very brave and strong.

Deng Shichang wrote a heroic history for us with his desperate spirit. They are all heroes in the history of China, inspiring future generations. Without their sacrifice, there would be no victory. The rise of China also shows that failure is only temporary, the just side will win, and the hero will of course be remembered and cherished forever.
