The Guide to Youth Orchestra (Op.34) is an orchestra composed by British composer benjamin britten (19 13- 1976) for the educational film "Musical Instruments of the Orchestra" filmed by the British government in 1946, also known as Variations and fugues on the Theme of Poucel.
Music is divided into three parts:
The first part, the theme part of purcell, is the presentation part of music. It first expresses the theme of Purcell's music through the ensemble of the whole orchestra.
The second part, Variations on the theme of purcell, is the development of the theme of purcell. It consists of Variations on 13, which are played by flute, piccolo, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp, French horn, trumpet, trombone and percussion instruments in turn.
The third part is the fugue part. In the music ending as the whole song, Britten magically constructed a colorful fugue with various instruments introduced earlier.
