Northeast Normal University, referred to as Northeast Normal University for short, is a university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC) and jointly established by Jilin Provincial People's Government. It is one of the first batch of national "2 1 1 Engineering" key construction universities, and has been selected as the national "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform", a world-class discipline construction university and "165438".

Northeast Normal University is one of the pilot universities of the national free education for normal students and excellent teacher training program, one of the universities of the Ministry of Education's "Subject Construction Program for Aid to Xinjiang", and the recipient institution of China Municipal Government's scholarship for international students in China. It is a social art level examination institution.
