Since 1980s, Professor Xie Yuan has trained a number of outstanding students, such as Li Hang, Qian Lina and Weng Lei, and won prizes in various competitions at home and abroad. In recent years, students who have won prizes in national or international competitions include: in 2007, Panther Chen won the silver prize in the Piano Concerto Competition of the Dean's Cup of the National Conservatory of Music; Ge Xinyue won the gold medal in Concerto Group and Youth Group of Indonesia International Piano Competition in 2006, and won the "Golden Bell Award" Youth Group Excellence Award in 2007; Du Xiaojing and Danni won the first place in the Piano Group for Two in the International Piano Competition in Wiesbaden, Germany in 2004, the first place in the Youth Group of the Third China International Piano Competition in Hong Kong in 2004, Du Xiaojing won the second place in the Youth Group, and Danni won the third place in the Youth Group (the first place was won by a German player); Chen won the third place in the youth group of the 2004 Wiesbaden International Piano Competition in Germany; In 2006, Sun Yutong won the first place in the children's group of Gulangyu International Art Festival and National Youth Piano Competition, and also won the China Performance Award. In July 2008, Fan Ruilong, a student, won the Youth Group Excellence Award in the 4th Gulangyu Art Festival National Piano Competition. Professor Xie Yuan has trained many outstanding students to become the backbone teachers of music colleges, such as master students Qian Lina, Zhang Jia, Hou Bei, Du Xiaojing and Chen Lei. Professor Xie Yuan has written and published many academic papers of about 200,000 words. Especially in recent years, the book "Guide to Playing Decorative Tones of Instrumental Music" and the book "The Never Fading Spanish Picture-Al bernice and His Iberia" were published by Shanghai Music Publishing House in 2006 and 2007 respectively. In 2008, the writing style and interpretation of samuel barber's Roaming was officially published by Baihua Literature and Art Publishing House.

During his tenure as Dean, Professor Xie Yuan insisted on discipline construction and improved teaching quality. Presided over the formulation of the main piano courses and their supporting courses, such as Piano Art Guidance, Piano Chamber Music and Piano Art History. At the same time, carry out high-level academic exchange activities. In particular, in 2003, the "National Conservatory of Music Piano Teaching Seminar" was successfully planned and organized, which won unanimous praise from peers for its rich contents (paper reading, master lectures, concert exchanges, seminars and symposiums), extremely high specifications (nine existing conservatories and Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts sent backbone teachers to attend the meeting), strict organization and thoughtful service. Mr. Zhou Yinque, executive director of the Art Education Committee of the Ministry of Education, personally attended the meeting and spoke highly of it: the meeting was "rich in content, substantial and rigorous, simple in style and exemplary". Professor Xie Yuan is keen on popularizing social music. Tianjin Piano Competition was successfully held in 1997, 1999, 200 1 and 2003. In 2002, he initiated the establishment of "Tianjin Piano Solo Competition for Primary and Secondary School Students" (which has been listed as the content of the art exhibition of the Education Commission). Actively participate in the planning and performance activities of "Concert to Commemorate the Birthday of Mr. Zhao Yuanren 1 10" and "The 90th China Piano Art Symposium". Tianjin Xiaoxiao Piano Art School 1994 has trained a large number of outstanding piano reserve talents and artistic talents, such as Bao Tianmao, Wang Haijie and Zhu Bingbing. Assist in planning and acting as the artistic director of piano demonstration teaching series concerts of the National Conservatory of Music of the Municipal Education Commission, and serve as the judge of the student exhibition competition and the certification of special students.

Professor Xie Yuan has been invited to be the judge of piano competitions at or above the national level for more than 20 times. In 2006, 2007 and 2008, he was continuously employed as a member of the master thesis defense committee of the Central Conservatory of Music and a member of the concert review committee.

Professor Xie Yuan was awarded the honorary titles of the first "teaching model" in Tianjin higher education system and "advanced individual who made contributions during the Tenth Five-Year Plan" in Tianjin, and was awarded the title of "outstanding musician of the 20th century in 2000" by the World Celebrity Biography Center of Cambridge University.
