Recipient students arrange an unmarried youth aged 17 to 30 to live in a local family as a family member for up to two years. By the hour, students who receive scholarships usually do housework for their host families for two days a week. Host families have separate rooms and reasonable allowances. In Britain (until 2005), the weekly allowance was about 55.
The European Parliament once suggested that every reciprocal student should sign a formal agreement with the host family.
deal with
Host families should treat reciprocal students as family members and get along equally. Although both sides often misunderstand the identity of reciprocal students, under no circumstances should students be regarded as helpers or required to wear uniforms. Of course, reciprocal students should also do their duty to do housework for the host family or complete other work agreed by both parties.
Students who receive scholarships usually have meals with their host families and attend family gatherings. Sometimes, especially at night, in order to leave some private space for host families, Hu Hui students choose to stay in their rooms and watch TV, or go out to play with their classmates.

The aided students fulfill their obligations and do simple housework for the host family for six hours a day, five days a week. The aided students have private rooms, free room and board, and the monthly living allowance is equivalent to 252 euros (legal minimum wage). In addition, in order to make it easier for au pair students to adapt to life in Finland and strengthen communication with their children, host families will arrange Finnish courses for au pair students. Finland's reciprocal student program is more flexible. If the host family needs reciprocal students to work more than 30 hours, they will pay an extra 5 euros per hour. The aided students can enjoy a week's paid vacation every six months, and they can choose to stay within 12 months.
