Personnel training in Xuhui University
The biggest purpose of the establishment of missionary schools is to preach and train clergy. As the principal, Huang Shiduo once expounded the training policy of Xuhui University: "After a long and serious test, we dare to confirm their vocation ... For the future of the parish, the most important thing is to consider enthusiastic missionary and loyal service." Xuhui Middle School, as a missionary school, has cultivated many foreign slaves who adore foreign things and are willing to serve the colonists. But it goes without saying that it trained the first batch of intellectuals in modern China, many well-known or unknown educators, ordinary teachers, scientists, engineers and technicians, translators and staff. Its influence on education in Shanghai and even China, and its influence on the quality of Shanghai's population should not be underestimated.

According to the statistics of 1920, there were 450 students in Xuhui University that year. Since 1859, the school has enrolled more than 3,800 students over the years, and talented people have emerged in large numbers. Ma, a famous educator and patriotic old man, is one of them. Ma Jianchang, also known as Liang, was born in1April/July, 840, and entered Xuhui Public School at the age of1/kloc-0. He is good at science and mathematics with excellent grades. He was one of the first students in Xue Hui. 1862 joined the Jesuits, 1872 served as the president of Xuhui public school, 1903 was funded by the Jesuits, and founded Aurora College as the dean. During his time in charge of school affairs, Aurora was very famous in Shanghai and trained many aspiring young people who were proficient in Manabu Nakanishi. 1905, due to disagreement with foreign priests, Fudan Public School was founded with Yan Fu and Yuan, which was one of the earliest patriotic universities in China. The establishment and popularity of Sinian and Fudan are inseparable from Ma's efforts and Ma's early education and edification in Xuhui College. In addition, Li Wenyu, Jiang, Xu, Shen, Shen Rongzhai, Pan Gusheng and other old students have all served as principals and teachers of their alma mater. They talk about what they have learned from foreign priests year after year, day after day. This knowledge is normal to westerners and simple to modern people, but it is novel and mysterious to ordinary people in China at that time. They have exerted a subtle influence on the spread of western science and technology culture in China. Therefore, in a sense, Xuhui University is the training center of modern western-style teachers in Shanghai. 19 At the end of the 20th century, it contributed to the training of western-style teachers urgently needed in China.

In addition to training teachers, Xuhui University has also trained many other outstanding talents, such as Ma's brother Ma Jianzhong, who entered the school with his brother at the age of seven, studied under Father Huang, and devoted himself to studying Greek, Latin, French, mathematics and science. In Ambassador Xi's diary, Ceng Jize said that he was "proficient in French and his Chinese letters were widely circulated, so he was an outstanding person." 1897' s Ma Shi Wen Tong and Shi Kezhai's Journey to Ji Yan are both cultural celebrities in the late Qing Dynasty, and Marek was from Xiang Bo. Students who graduated from Xuhui University can go directly to Aurora University. Weng Wenhao, known as one of the three great geological men in China, is also a student of Xuhui University. After graduation, I went directly to Aurora, and then went to the University of Leuven for further study and got my doctorate. There is also a translator, Fu Lei, who is also studying in Xuhui College.
