Guangdong Songshan Vocational and Technical College is a full-time general higher vocational college organized by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, put on record by the Ministry of Education and directly managed by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education.

The college, formerly known as Guangdong Shaoguan Iron and Steel Group Staff University, was founded in March 1976. At the beginning of the school, it was named "July 21" Shaoguan Iron and Steel Plant Staff University. On June 1982, three metallurgical workers' universities in northern Guangdong merged into Shaogang Workers' University.
