Xi Institute of Physical Education was founded in 1954, formerly known as Northwest Institute of Physical Education, and 1956 was renamed Xi Institute of Physical Education. It is one of the first six sports colleges established in New China, directly under the State Sports General Administration (State Sports Commission).
200 1 in the adjustment of management system in the State Council, the central and local governments jointly established a management system with the province as the main body. It is a college jointly established by the State Sports General Administration and the People's Government of Shaanxi Province. Shaanxi Province is a "domestic first-class discipline" construction university, and Shaanxi Province plans to add a doctoral degree authorization unit.
The College has three campuses: Headquarters, Yufeng and Hu Yi. The school headquarters is located on the west side of Little Wild Goose Pagoda Park in the scenic spot. At present, there are more than 8,200 undergraduates and 780 postgraduates.
The college consists of 8 departments (physical education department, sports training department, social sports and leisure sports department, martial arts department, health science department, sports economy and sports management department, sports art department and sports media department), 2 departments (graduate department, ideological and political theory teaching and research department), 2 colleges (continuing education college and football college), 1 school (affiliated competitive sports school).
China Race Walking School was jointly established with the Track and Field Management Center of the State General Administration of Sport, and China Ball Throwing College was jointly established with the Small Ball Management Center of the State General Administration of Sport to form a national curling team.
The college has two first-class disciplines, two disciplines 10 master's degree awarding points, among which physical education is the first-class construction discipline in Shaanxi Province. Cooperate with Shanghai Institute of Physical Education to train doctoral students. The undergraduate major of the college is 2 1, covering seven disciplines: literature, science, economics, management, teaching, medicine and art. Since its establishment, it has trained more than 50,000 PE teachers, coaches, athletes and professionals in sports research, sports news, sports management and management.
