It was built in April 1949, when it was affiliated to Beijing Film Studio. 1953 changed its name to Central News Recording Film Studio Orchestra, and 1956 changed its name to Central News Film Studio Orchestra. 1963 was placed under the Film Bureau and renamed Beijing Film Orchestra. 197 1 was reclassified as a new film in July. 198 1 year was directly under the film bureau again, and 1985 officially changed its name to its current name.
The orchestra has symphony orchestra, national orchestra, song orchestra, workshop and other departments.
