Research direction of Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning, Beijing Normal University
The laboratory has established five research directions:

1. Basic cognitive process and learning: Based on the specificity and attentional dependence of visual learning, the general laws of perceptual learning and the cognitive neural mechanisms corresponding to these laws are revealed.

2. Linguistic cognition, mathematical cognition and learning: Basic and applied research is carried out on important scientific issues such as plasticity of mother tongue and second language learning experience and brain language function, development and obstacles of language and reading, basic processing of mathematical cognition and cognitive neural mechanism of obstacles.

3. Interaction between emotion and cognition: To explore how non-intellectual factors such as emotion regulate the advanced cognitive function of the brain, and then affect the learning mechanism. Taking the regulation of emotion on cognitive processing as a breakthrough, this paper studies the neural mechanism of emotion generation and processing, the neural mechanism of the interaction between emotion and perception, attention, memory, language and decision-making, the neural mechanism of individual emotion regulation, emotional disorder and its influence on cognitive function, and the genetic and environmental factors affecting emotion.

4. Psychological development and brain development: Based on the integration of genes, environment, brain and behavior, study the laws of individual psychological development and brain development and their relationship, and establish a basic database to provide diagnostic basis for cognitive impairment and mental health problems.

5. Methodological research of cognitive neuroscience: Taking the calculation method and application of resting brain functional imaging as a breakthrough, a series of theoretical and methodological research on brain imaging, such as nuclear magnetic resonance, EEG, near infrared, etc., are carried out from complex network and functional system to local brain, and applied to clinical research to build a multi-modal brain imaging technology and platform.
